1/2 | teaspoon | ARM & HAMMER Baking Soda | |

1/2 | cup | butter or margarine, softened | |
|
|||
1/2 | cup | vegetable shortening | |
|

1 | cup | sugar | |
|
|||
1 | egg | ||
|
|||
1 | teaspoon | vanilla | |
|
|||
2 | tablespoons | milk | |

Preheat oven to 400 F. Sift together flour, salt and baking soda; set aside. Beat butter and shortening in large bowl with electric mixer on medium speed until blended ; add sugar gradually and continue beating until light and fluffy. Beat in egg and vanilla. Add flour mixture and beat until smooth; blend in milk. Drop dough by teaspoonfuls about 3 inches apart onto greased cookie sheets. Flatten with bottom of greased glass that has been dipped in additional sugar. Bake 12 minutes or until edges are lightly browned. Cool on wire racks.
